Camera Winks!

Camera Winks! is a photoblog of each day. What the photo is of isn't what is important, it's the photo itself. The photo itself will be the remembrance, the trophy, the proof I lived through the day.

Tupper My Rental Puppy February 27, 2010

My aunt and uncle just got a dog. She’s a tiny little thing, but not too yappy. Her name is Tupper. I really love her! I have wanted a dog for about 2 years now, but my mom says no. So until I move out Tupper is my dog when they come over. See those cute, innocent eyes? Careful they are very deceiving. Just a few nights ago she attempted to eat their pet bird. The bird survived, but I’m going to train Tupper how to make sure she gets that bird right next time. She deserves some meat. (For the recored I have no use for birds, I dislike them a lot.)

sooo cute! Love her!

Have you ever walked into a pocket of air that smelt terrible? Well I have! Today is garbage in the east end of Hamilton and the air smells like a burning rotten sulphur omelette.

PEEE--UUUU!

On a lighter note, my first day back at work was good.

My Brothers, This Should Not Be… February 24, 2010

William Norman Ewer once wrote:

How odd

Of God

To Choose

The Jews.

Then Cecil Browne decided to add a second verse in reply:

But not so odd

As those who choose

A Jewish God,

But spurn the Jews.

When I first read this it struck a chord with me. I began to think of how I have claimed to love God, but I have failed to love those He loves. Recently as I have been going through the book of Genesis I have begun to fall in love with the Jews. I can’t explain it, but for some reason I really have a heart for them. I find myself wishing and hoping that they will turn to Jesus and realize that He is the Messiah they have been waiting for.

I feel like this poem is not just limited to the Jews, but rather it reaches to all mankind made in the image of God. It speaks about this in the book of James chapter 3 verses 9 and 10: “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.”  That last sentence, “it should not be” may be such an obvious truth, but it is in the obvious truths that I find myself taken breathless.

Anyhow this is really been laying heavy on my heart for the last little while.

I’m Back in the Saddle Again! February 23, 2010

Ladies and Gents, I’m back! Today I received a phone call that I knew would come one day, I just didn’t know it’d come so soon. As of Thursday I will be back to work at the firm. This time around I’ll get a chance to work with the electronic side of filing, as well as some of my old job with paper filing. It is only for two days a week, but I’m totally okay with that. I’m super excited! Now all I have to do is get back to my sleeping schedule. Staying up all night and working during the day just won’t do. Well that is my exciting news! Praise God because He is faithful. He gave me the previous job, and now has restored it to me. I’m so thankful!

Today is the Day! February 22, 2010

It’s Monday and thus a new week; a week in which I can experience new things, learn new lessons, and create new memories. I feel free; free from self consciousness, free from worries and free from yesterday. By the grace of Jesus Christ I have been liberated, and allowed to actually live. I yearn to see the blessings hidden within this day. I desire to hear the sounds unique to today. I crave the flavours today holds. I desire to feel the emotions that come with today. I want to see the sunset, and know that I in fact lived today. To day is the day the Lord has made, and I plan on living it!

Extreme Room Makeover! February 20, 2010

As you probably already know scrapbooking is a really popular hobby right now. I personally don’t like to make something that will just end up in a closet along with every other photo album. Don’t get me wrong, I mean it is fun and the results are great to look through, but they do get shelved at some point and forgotten about. I just can spend all that work on something that won’t have a use in my daily life. However, I am not the type of person to let the ‘band wagon’ go by. I decided to scrapbook, only I did it my way. As I have mentioned before, I have a huge ugly mural in my room. It was once cool looking when my room was still the big living room. It gave the room a cottage-like feel. Now that my room is there, it is a daily teaser. It teases me with its views of the spacious outdoors. My room is very small and I long for more space, so on Friday I went to the craft store and bought two pads of 12×12 scrapbooking paper. I then decided to scrapbook my room. It took me all day yesterday to tidy my room so I could do the big project, and all night to complete it. (Hence my lack of post on Friday). Well it is now done; my room is clean and I have rested. So here it is! The before and after shots:

BEFORE

AFTER

My mom says my wall looks like a quilt, she loves it. I must admit I do too!

(For the record although I am a creative person, I did not come up with this idea. I found out about it here… http://smartbottomenterprises.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-13-paper-wall.html ).

Anyhow, I went to the bead store with Ben today and spent way too much money! So I am off to make new jewelery.

Bible Study Thursday! February 18, 2010

Well tonight was the second meeting of my bible study. It went really well. The Freeway Cafe was actually open this week, so that was a great start. I felt a lot more comfortable, whereas last week I was really nervous. This week we look a lot deeper into the human dialogue of the book of Job. We were able to learn what each of Job’s friends were saying, and Job’s response to each. I thought it was really important to take the time to go through it properly. Job is one of those stories where most people just say “Oh yea, I know that one”; but in reality they don’t know any details to the story. So now we can confidently say we know Job and his friends. Next week we will look at the Divine dialogue found in Job and finish up the book. I love that I am learning new things, even though I’m teaching. It’s fun to discover the Bible. I suggest everyone to discover/rediscover that greatness of God’s Word!!

Laura didn't want in the photo, but she says peace anyhow!

Ash Wednesday…A.K.A. Lent. February 17, 2010

Today is the beginning of Lent. I normally don’t practice Lent due to my lack of knowledge about it. This year it had been on my mind a lot, so I did some research. I found that it is a way of worshiping God. By giving something up that you love, in order to tell God that He is more important to you than that thing. So I thought about it a lot. I thought of all the things I couldn’t possibly give up. I thought of everything I depended on. One thing fell into both categories- Facebook. My reasons for thinking it was impossible to give up was due to my bible study. I have a group on Facebook that I use to coordinate everything with my bible study. Also Facebook is where I get most of my viewers for this blog. So I figured I can’t possibly give it up. I then realized I could easily e-mail the people in my bible group, and I could still use twitter to publicize this blog. So with the impossible made possible, the only reason I had left was that I depended on it. That fact alone was a reason to give it up. There is no need for something like Facebook to be on a list of things I depend on. So I decided I would give it up for Lent as a sign of my love for God. I love and depend on him more than Facebook. So here is my final good bye to Facebook:

Pancake Tuesday 2010! February 16, 2010

So today I woke up a bit late, so I decided I’d eat my pancakes for lunch. I thought of all the delicious ways to make my pancakes all day long. I had done a bunch of heavy lifting and digging before lunch, and was really super tired. I knew I needed sleep, so I took a nap. Unfortunately my nap turned into a crazy long nap. I woke up to my mom’s voice. It was 6:30! Having slept through breakfast, and lunch I was pretty hungry. The thoughts of my pancakes entered my head again; my mouth began to water. With my mom being home, she was able to make my grandfather and I supper. This was a big luxury! Since my mom is a cook it is very rare for her to be home for any meal. So she made pancakes for us. I like my pancakes bite size. I like dipping it in syrup rather than pouring the syrup on it. The pancakes were so delicious I almost totally forgot to take a picture! Luckily my mom was still making pancakes so I snapped a shot. Here is Pancake Tuesday 2010 at the Davidson/Orr household. (:

Disclaimer: My room is getting cleaned out and downsized so everything is on my bed. The whole process will take me about three days. So with my bed out of commission I have been sleeping on the tiny love seat in the living room. Needless to say my nights have not been very replenishing, hence my need for naps.

Imagine me and you, I do. I think about you day and night It's only right

Imagine how the world could be So very fine So happy together!

I can see me lovin' nobody but you For all my life When you're with me baby the skies'll be blue For all my life

Me and you and you and me No matter how they toss the dice It had to be

The only one for me is you And you for me So happy together!

I can see me lovin' nobody but you For all my life When you're with me baby the skies'll be blue For all my life

I can see me lovin' nobody but you For all my life When you're with me baby the skies'll be blue For all my life

The only one for me is you, and you for me So happy together! Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ...

This was my Valentine’s Day with Ben. We hung out most of the day at his house, then came back to mine to watch a movie. It was nothing super romantic or anything, but I have to say I loved it, (and him too!).
